At AGRITOUR EXPO 2025 - the premier event for agriculture, industry, and tourism held in Biskra, Algeria, from December 2-4, the trade office on December 2 held direct working sessions with many local enterprises to learn about local regulations and assess demand for products, raw materials, and equipment.
As part of his official visit to Algeria, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held working sessions on November 20 with several Algerian ministers and leaders of major economic groups and organisations of the African nation to advance the implementation of the newly established Vietnam–Algeria Strategic Partnership.
Both sides highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation within the broader framework of bilateral relations. They agreed to enhance effective collaboration between the two legislatures through sharing legislative experience, oversight, and lawmaking; establishing in-depth cooperation programmes between specialised committees; and strengthening connections among parliamentary friendship groups.
The newly established Strategic Partnership framework between Vietnam and Algeria reflects the growing significance of their ties in the new era, aiming to expand comprehensive, substantive, and effective cooperation; strengthen existing mechanisms, and promote new initiatives.
PM Pham Minh Chinh highlighted the broad and distinctive bilateral cooperation across politics, economy, energy, defence, and telecoms, as well as collaboration between localities of the two nations, expressing his hope that economic cooperation will be further enhanced, contributing to strengthening political ties.
The Algerian minister of agriculture and leaders of several other ministries said they will soon visit Vietnam to continue discussions and finalise cooperation projects in the near future.

Spouse of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh Le Thi Bich Tran hoped that the El Biar Child Protection Centre in Algeria will remain a strong source of support, enabling the children to live in love, access education and social services, and pursue a brighter future.

The Algerian PM said the forum demonstrated the strong resolve of both countries not only to build upon their historical ties but also to promptly translate the newly established Strategic Partnership into concrete outcomes for future development.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune hailed the special significance of PM Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to the enhancement and elevation of bilateral relations, affirming his and the Algerian people’s affection for the Southeast Asian nation.
PM Pham Minh Chinh said with the upgrade of Vietnam–Algeria relations to a Strategic Partnership, the two countries will strengthen solidarity and cohesion to build momentum, promote cooperation for mutual benefits, and enhance high-level and local exchanges to reinforce trust and mutual understanding.
In this spirit, the two sides agreed to upgrade the bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, affirming their commitments to enhancing all-level and high-level delegation exchanges in a bid to strengthen political foundation and mutual understanding, while expanding cooperation in a wide range of fields through existing mechanisms.
PM Pham Minh Chinh highlighted the many similarities between Vietnam and Algeria despite their geographical distance, especially their struggles for independence. He said that the two countries share a traditional friendship and solidarity, and called on both sides to build on this spirit to advance national development in the new era.
This is the first visit to Algeria by a Vietnamese PM in 10 years, since 2015. PM Sifi Ghrieb personally greeted and presented flowers to PM Chinh, his spouse, and the Vietnamese delegation at the foot of the aircraft stairs.
More than six decades after diplomatic ties were established (1962–2025), Vietnam and Algeria have achieved significant progress in economic and trade cooperation. In recent years, bilateral trade has grown strongly, with export structure expanded, and oil and gas collaboration seen as a success symbol of their partnership.
Vietnam and Algeria share a special foundation in their bilateral ties— one that not all country pairs possess—rooted in solidarity during their revolutionary struggles and strengthened over decades by political affinity, similar international perception, and mutual support at key moments in history.
In addition to strengthening traditional sectors such as trade, oil and gas, and agriculture, they committed to expanding cooperation into high-potential, new fields, including industry, renewable energy, scientific research, digital transformation, innovative startups, tourism, higher education, construction, and transport.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Tran Quoc Khanh said the official visit to Algeria from November 18-20 by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh holds historic significance, marking the highest-level visit to Algeria by a Vietnamese leader in the past 10 years, following the one by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in 2015.
PM Pham Minh Chinh's trip will elevate these relationships, delivering concrete outcomes in trade, investment, industry, mining, logistics, green supply chains and innovation with South Africa; expanding energy, investment, trade, processing industries, smart agriculture and education cooperation with Algeria; and deepening collaboration in finance, trade, investment, energy, green infrastructure, food security, ODA and the Halal industry with Kuwait.
The trips will be made at the invitations of PM Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al Sabah of Kuwait, PM Sifi Ghrieb of Algeria, and President of South Africa and G20 Chair for 2025 Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, according to an announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Vietnam’s main exports to Algeria include coffee, cashew nuts, pepper, seafood, chemicals, footwear, textiles, and steel, while Algeria ships computers, electronic components, carob powder, chicken feet, and animal feed to Vietnam. Algeria is also seeking Vietnamese partners for dates and olive oil imports.
Benmbarek stressed that Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune places great importance on fostering the bilateral ties, viewing this as a new impetus to elevate relations in all areas.
Both sides concurred that economic, trade, and investment cooperation should continue to serve as a key pillar of bilateral relations, with the goal of raising two-way trade to 1 billion USD in the near future.
