Overcoming numerous challenges in history, the Vietnam – Cuba relationship has become an invaluable common asset of both peoples and a shining example in international relations, according to Party General Secretary To Lam.

President of the Cuban Journalists’ Association Ricardo Ronquillo Bello stressed that the relationship between the two countries has long been rooted in journalism. In recent years, media and communications cooperation between the two countries has expanded through regular delegations and professional exchanges.

The people of Vietnam, including those in Ho Chi Minh City, always stand by the people of Cuba in every step of their development journey.

Cuba remains one of Vietnam’s 10 key markets in Latin America, while Vietnam is now Cuba’s second largest partner in the Asia-Pacific. Vietnam is also Cuba’s largest Asian investor, and one of its leading foreign investors overall, with seven active projects spanning construction materials, consumer goods, industrial park infrastructure, and energy.

For Cuba, Vietnam’s cooperation in the field of agriculture is currently the foundation for achieving food security. Vietnam is supporting Cuba in the production of rice, maize, soybeans, and other crops, and Vietnamese companies in the Mariel Special Development Zone are producing essential consumer goods for the Cuban people.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged VNA and Prensa Latina to increase cooperation, maintain effective joint activities and explore new methods of collaboration, including professional training, technology and media infrastructure development aligned with modern trends.

The VFF Central Committee affirms its high regard for advancing and deepening the friendly and cooperative relationship with the LFNC in a substantive and effective manner, making important contributions to the respective national efforts in renewal, construction, and defence, while also bolstering the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The special and fraternal relationship between the two Parties, Governments, armies, and peoples has been built on sincere affection that transcends geographical distance and time, said a leader of the Cuba – Vietnam Friendship Association.

The relationship between Vietnam and Cuba is built not only on tradition but also on a shared vision for the future, with younger generations committed to nurturing the special solidarity.

A Cuban official highlighted the value of Vietnam’s experience during the preparation for the 14th National Party Congress, scheduled for January 2026, an undertaking that parallels Cuba’s preparations for its ninth National Party Congress, set for April 2026.

The column “Cuba–Vietnam: 65 Years of Fraternity” is a way of showcasing, through the media, the achievements of bilateral cooperation built on shared political will despite geographical distance and language differences.

The Director of the National Defence College of Cuba said Vietnam’s policies and strategies for ensuring national security offer practical and valuable lessons for Cuba in the current context.

Vietnam will steadfastly support Cuba in protecting its independence, sovereignty, self-determination, and development rights, said Minister Counsellor Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, Chargé d’Affaires at the Vietnamese Delegation to the UN.

The Vietnamese side has confirmed to contribute rice seeds to Cuba’s upcoming national rice cultivation programme.

Vietnam and Cuba officially established diplomatic relations on December 2, 1960. Over the past 65 years, their traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation have been continuously strengthened through exchanges of all-level delegations, collaboration in economy, trade, investment, tourism, education, culture, and sports, as well as people-to-people interactions.

The two sides explored the possibility of establishing a shared digital archive centre to store publications, articles, historical photographs, and valuable press materials documenting the development of each country as well as bilateral relations.

Launched in 2002, the project covered four rice-growing regions across 11 Cuban provinces. In its 2024–2025 phase, yields of fresh unhusked rice averaged 5.8 tonnes per hectare, 2.5 times higher than the traditional local output and surpassing the project’s initial target of 5 tonnes.

The first Granma–Rebelde international press festival in Havana, Cuba gathers a number of influential outlets, including Almaya-deen from Palestine, People’s Daily from China, Nhan Dan from Vietnam, El Siglo from Chile, Conciencia from Mexico, and People’s Forum from the United States.

Cuba deeply values and appreciates the sincere support and solidarity that Vietnam and Quang Ninh have extended to his country during challenging times, said Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes.

The network will serve as a comprehensive and synchronous platform connecting ideas to practice, and research to production and trade. It aims to help Cuban products reach the Vietnamese market and beyond, while enabling Cuba’s scientific knowledge to accompany Vietnam’s development process.
