Deputy Governor of Houaphanh province Phoutphanh Keovongxay said the project is part of cooperation between the Lao and Vietnamese Governments and holds special significance for local development.
The project, a gift from the Party, State, and people of Vietnam to their Lao counterparts, was announced during the state visit to Laos by State President Luong Cuong in April.
This support serves as tremendous encouragement for the collective efforts of teachers and students at Nguyen Du school, an institution that has distinguished itself in Vietnamese language teaching while providing generations of students a better insight in to the culture, history, and friendship binding the two peoples.
The gifts, including bags and uniforms, are expected to make it easier for the children to go to school, while giving them encouragement to strive in their studies and daily lives.
The event offered teachers and students in Laos valuable hands-on experience and new approaches to implementing STEM education, while also opening up opportunities for bilateral cooperation between the education sectors of the two countries.
VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang affirmed that cooperation between the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Pasaxon newspaper stands as a symbol of enduring friendship and loyalty. The two sides have carried out practical joint activities, including information exchange, delegation visits, support for reporting, technical assistance and journalism training.
During the course, students will study Vietnamese across four basic skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing – to prepare for the official language proficiency exam.
Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam underscored that language is not only a tool of communications but also the soul of culture and national identity, stating preserving the Vietnamese language is preserving the nation’s roots and reinforcing the bonds between the overseas Vietnamese and their homeland.
The official praised the VNA’s content quality, presentation methods, as well as timely and diverse coverage, particularly major political and diplomatic events between the two countries.
Vietnamese is also taught at prestigious schools in Laos like the Champasak-Lam Dong High School for the Gifted (Phonesavanh School) and the Champasak Ethnic Boarding School.
Looking ahead, with its proud tradition and ongoing innovation, VNA is expected to continue its pioneering role, contributing to Vietnam’s development while nurturing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, and advancing the growth of journalism across the region and the world.
