The agreement between the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency and the Shopee Co., Ltd. aims to support the modernisation of Vietnam’s national trade ecosystem by combining government policy, business capability, and technological infrastructure.
Vietnam and Singapore signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on rice trade at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Gyeongju, the Republic of Korea on October 30, a new step to promote economic collaboration and ensure regional food security.

They noted that bilateral economic and trade relations have continued to develop substantively and comprehensively, forming a key pillar of the Vietnam–Singapore bilateral relationship.
Singapore remains Vietnam’s second largest foreign investor with 4,226 projects worth 87.6 billion USD as of August 31. Meanwhile, Vietnamese investment in Singapore has grown to 190 projects valued at 685 million USD.
Under the agreement, SIA will codeshare (SQ) on Vietnam Airlines-operated flights between Singapore and Vietnam's Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam Airlines will codeshare (VN) on SIA-operated flights between Singapore and Da Nang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Singapore’s United Overseas Bank (UOB) has boosted its 2025 GDP growth forecast for Vietnam to 7.5% from 6.9%, pointing to the economy’s resilience and dynamism despite tariff risks and uncertainties.
