The southern province of Dong Nai plans to start construction of 18-trillion VND (682.5 million USD) Cat Lai bridge that connects Long Thanh International Airport and Ho Chi Minh City next year, according to Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Van Ha.

The proposed Dong Nai FTZ will cover more than 8,200 hectares across seven sites connected with Long Thanh International Airport and Phuoc An Port. It will consist of four functional zones, namely a high-tech industrial production area, a logistics hub, a financial and commercial services centre, and an innovation cluster.

PM Chinh emphasised the airport’s vital role in driving socio-economic development, generating jobs, and improving livelihoods. He described the project as a new symbol of progress, not only for the Southeast region but for the entire country.

Dung hailed Coherent’s expansion in Vietnam as a gateway to deeper cooperation in hi-tech manufacturing, knowledge and technology transfer, and workforce training. The facility is to generate thousands of skilled jobs for Vietnamese workers.

The project’s capital structure includes 5% public funding, 40% from domestic private investors, and the remaining 55% from foreign direct investment (FDI).

Dong Nai targets 1.1 billion in FDI in 2025, with industrial parks aiming for 800 million USD. Back in early February, the province granted investment certificates to 12 FDI and two domestic projects, respectively valued at over 680 million USD and nearly 1.5 trillion VND (60 million USD).

The southern province of Dong Nai attracted 927 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first quarter of 2025, including 407 million USD was invested in 29 new projects, and more than 520 million USD went to existing ones.

The facility will cover over 55,000 sq.m of land, with a total floor area of 26,168 sq.m. The project is being developed through a joint venture with Lotte Global Logistics in Vietnam, supported by the global logistics supply chain fund.

Localities in the southeast region are rolling out new investment strategies focused on sustainability, high-quality projects, digital transformation, and green and circular economies.

The newly certified projects in Dong Nai province span various high-tech sectors, including semiconductor manufacturing, electronics and components, mechanical engineering, textiles, and prefabricated metal products.

The People's Committee of the southern province of Dong Nai, in collaboration with Viet Phat Group JSC, on January 10 began work on an office leasing and commercial centre in Hiep Hoa ward, Bien Hoa city, with a total investment of over 6 trillion VND (236.4 million USD), making it one of the largest commercial centre projects in Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on January 9 urged relevant units to accelerate the progress of sub-projects to complete the Long Thanh International Airport project as soon as possible.
