Havana (VNA) – The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has not only provided leadership during past resistance wars but also set a shining example in guiding the revolutionary process, leading the country to ultimate victory, national unification, and a new era of prosperity, a Cuban senior researcher has said.

Talking to Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Cuba on the occasion of the CPV's 95th anniversary (February 3, 1930 – 2025), Dr. Ruvislei González Saez from Cuba's Centre for International Policy Studies, highlighted the Party's role in the national liberation movement from 1930 to 1945.

The birth of the CPV, known as the Indochinese Communist Party at that time, marked a historical turning-point in the struggle of the the working class and peasants and the revolutionary process in Southeast Asia, he said, stressing that since its inception, the Party set clear objectives that have enabled it to endure to today with strong legitimacy and credibility.

He underlined the crucial role played by President Ho Chi Minh in founding the Party, affirming that the late President was an architect, guide, and driving force behind the national unity bloc.

Ruvislei González pointed out glorious achievements made by Vietnam under the CPV leadership during the struggles for national liberation, independence and reunification, as well as the “Doi moi” (renewal) process over the past nearly four decades, and Vietnam's transformation into one of the most dynamic countries in the world today.

The Doi moi” has contributed to reducing the poverty rate from nearly 80% in the 1980s to below 3% today, he noted, emphasising that this is a significant achievement, helping over 40 million people get rid of poverty, and build a more prosperous country.

Regarding the fight against corruption and the current policy of streamlining the administrative apparatus in Vietnam, Ruvislei González said the corruption combat with no restricted areas helps enhance transparency within the Party and its prestige.

For Vietnam’s future goals, the Cuban researcher stated that Vietnam is entering a new era thanks to the actions taken by the CPV with strong determination.

According him, the Party has successfully positioned and carried out foreign affairs through the bamboo diplomacy and four no's policies. By identifying the potential and challenges at present, the Party has contributed to facilitating the transition from a low-middle-income country to a middle-income country, and it is certain that Vietnam can realise its goal of becoming a high-income country in the future.

With administrative reforms, integration efforts to expand economic relations with many countries around the world under the leadership and decisive actions of the CPV, Vietnam has become one of the new economic tigers in Southeast Asia, and been named among the top 20 most dynamic economies in the world, and the 15 economies with sustainable growth above 5%.

Vietnam has become the 35th largest economy and it is expected to be among the top 25 that maintain stable development rates in the next 10 years, he said./.
