Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – The central province of Thua Thien – Hue accordedits first 200 visitors on New Year day to a special welcoming ceremony at PhuBai International Airport on January 1.

Besides bouquets and souvenirs, passengers on Vietnam Airlines’ Flight VN1541from Hanoi enjoyed an art performance and received New Year wishes from localauthorities.

Particularly, two luckies passengers were presented Vietnam Airlines’ round-triptickets and special gifts from the provincial Department of Tourism.

The ceremony is part of the activities to kick off the series of festivals inThua Thien – Hue throughout the year, helping popularise local touristdestinations and standout products, as well as develop the brands of “Hue – the city of festival”, “Hue – the city of typical cuisine”,and “Hue – the city of Ao dai”.

Hue, the imperial capital in Vietnam for over 100 years, hasbeen a unique destination in central Vietnam with its five UNESCO heritage: the ancient citadel relic complex, Hue royal court music, NguyenDynasty’s wooden blocks, Nguyen Dynasty’s royal administrative documents, andliterature on Hue royal architecture

This year, Thua Thien - Hue eyes to welcome up to 4 milliontourist arrivals, with domestic visitors accounting for 60-70%, and earn some 8trillion VND (329.6 million USD) from them.

Diversifyingtourism products and improving customer experiences are important measures for ThuaThien - Hue to carve out its goals. Besides, the province has plans to branchout high-end tourism offerings, with a focus on culture-heritage tourism,eco-tourism, resort and healthcare tourism, and MICE tourism, among others.

Hue accelerates shift toward green, low-plastic tourism models

Over the past three years, Hue tourism authorities have strengthened communication and advocacy for plastic waste reduction through 10 training sessions with 690 participants, “Coffee Talk” events, professional Zalo groups, and direct engagement with businesses. As a result, 102 enterprises and business households have signed commitments to reduce plastics, and 12 hotels have pioneered plastic-reduction practices.

Vietnam welcomes more than 19 million international visitors in 11 months

Vietnam draws French holidaymakers during Christmas, New Year

Hanoi posts sharp rise in visitors, revenue

In December, the Hanoi tourism sector will focus on completing a project to reform the management, conservation and promotion of the Huong Son (Perfume Pagoda) Special National Relic Site; continue surveys on community-based, agricultural and night-time tourism offerings; and host the 2025 Hanoi Craft Village and Craft Street Cuisine and Tourism Festival. Preparations are also under way for participation in the National Green Tourism Forum in Lam Dong.
