HCM City (VNA) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on September 30 signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation for the 2025–2030 period with the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Committees of Vientiane capital and Champasak province, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries.

The MoUs were inked by Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the VFF Committee of HCM City, Somchai Xiongchongteng, Vice Chairman of the LFNC Committee of Vientiane capital, and Vatsana Silima, Chairwoman of the LFNC Committee of Champasak province.

Under the agreements, from 2025 to 2030, the sides will step up cooperation in communication to raise public awareness in both countries and localities about the tradition of solidarity, the special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

They will also promote exchanges and experience sharing in front affairs; update each other on economic, cultural, and social development; collaborate on research and discussions of topics and projects of mutual interest; and encourage enterprises from the localities to strengthen cooperation, explore markets, and contribute to economic development and international integration.

As part of the MoUs, each year the VFF Committee of HCM City will grant one full master’s scholarship to an official from the LFNC Committee of Vientiane and one to an official from Champasak, along with full undergraduate scholarships for three Lao students from Vientiane and five from Champasak. During the period, the committee will also mobilise resources to support the construction of three Vietnam–Laos great unity houses for disadvantaged families in Champasak.

During talks between the HCM City VFF Committee delegation and delegations from the LFNC Committee of Vientiane and Champasak, the parties reviewed the outcomes of the MoUs implemented during the 2022–2024 period, shared updates on their respective front systems, and discussed future cooperation.

The sides agreed that the signing of the MoUs will provide a significant driving force to further advance cooperation between the VFF Committee of HCM City and the LFNC Committees of Vientiane and Champasak, contributing to consolidating the great Vietnam–Laos friendship in the new context, for the benefit of the two nations' people and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world./.
