Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 1,433 out of the petitions submitted to the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly (NA) through meetings between deputies and voters have been addressed or responded to — a 97.4% resolution rate, according to a report delivered at the NA's ongoing 10th session on October 20.

The report on the supervision results of the settlement of voters' opinions sent to the 9th session, delivered by Chairman of the NA Committee for Ombudsman and Supervision Duong Thanh Binh, stated that the NA and its agencies received and handled all 39 petitions, achieving a 100% response rate.

Voters welcomed the NA's strong and comprehensive reforms, with its increasingly democratic, transparent, and people-centred activities. Many issues raised by voters have been effectively incorporated into the legislature’s law-making, supervisory, and national decision-making activities.

Through direct meetings with citizens, NA deputies along with Party and State leaders listened to public concerns and provided replies, further strengthening public trust in both the legislature and the State, they highlighted.

Binh went on to say that voters also lauded NA's bold innovation in law-making, as well as efforts to institutionalise the Party’s major policies on streamlining the political system, developing the two-tier local administration model, and removing legal bottlenecks to drive institutional breakthroughs to usher in an era of digital transformation, green transition, and sustainable development.

Supervisory activities have also been continually reformed, with a sharper focus on pressing socio-economic issues of widespread public concern.

Meanwhile, the Government, ministries, and central agencies have resolved or responded to 1,372 out of 1,410 petitions, equivalent to 97.3%, with the settlement quality increasingly improved, the report clarified.

It said that voters highly valued the Government's decisive directions in implementing measures to stabilise people’s lives and promote economic growth. Many NA resolutions have been implemented seriously, and numerous commitments and promises fulfilled, reinforcing citizens’ confidence in the Government’s performance.

However, the report also pointed out some limitations. A number of issues raised by voters have yet to be handled in a timely manner, causing difficulties for local implementation. Certain matters directly affecting people’s daily lives require closer supervision and direction from ministries and sectors. Besides, several petitions relating to benefits for healthcare personnel have been slow to be addressed, according to the report./.
