Quang Ngai (VNA) - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man urged Quang Ngai to strive for a GRDP growth rate of 10% in 2025, while leading a Politburo inspection delegation to the central province on March 12.

Deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission and deputy head of Inspection Team No. 1910 Doan Anh Dung presented a summary of the draft conclusion of the inspection team on the review of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW which seeks to streamline the political system for greater efficiency, and Conclusion No. 121 on its implementation, in connection with the establishment and operation of new Party organisations; and the implementation of Directive No. 35-CT/TW on Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress, along with Conclusion No. 118-KL/TW, which adjusts and supplements certain aspects of Directive No. 35.

The inspection team also looked into the provincial Party Committee Standing Board’s implementation and enforcement of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, as well as its implementation of Conclusion No. 123-KL/TW on adjustments to the 2025 socio-economic development plan which targets a growth rate of at least 8%.

The NA Chairman expressed his delight at the province's socio-economic achievements, with positive and comprehensive results across various sectors. In 2024, the province met or exceeded all 25 socio-economic targets, with its GRDP growth rate reaching 4.07%, surpassing the plan.

The province's economy was estimated at 132.65 trillion VND (5.2 billion USD), ranking it among the top 20 in the country. Domestic revenue reached 17.64 trillion VND, fulfilling both the government’s and the provincial People's Council’s targets. Per capita GRDP was estimated at 106.2 million VND, marking a 3.87% increase year-on-year.

However, Man noted that Quang Ngai has yet to fully tap its potential and strengths, saying if the locality makes determined efforts to address institutional bottlenecks, improve infrastructure investment, and develop human resources, it would achieve greater results.

To this end, people should be the decisive factor, while officials must be dedicated, enthusiastic, proactive, and willing to make sacrifices for the common good.

Pointing out the locality's ample room for further growth with such advantages as a well-connected transportation system and strong potential for marine economy, tourism, fisheries, and industry, the top legislator said if the province acts decisively and with strong determination from 2025 to 2030, it would achieve double-digit growth, transform its economic, cultural, and social landscape, and strengthen national defence and security.

Regarding the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, Man said that the streamlined political system must be strong, effective, and efficient. He also stressed the need to select and retain talented and competent individuals.

The NA Chairman also urged Quang Ngai to fully disburse its allocated investment budget, reform administrative procedures, improve the investment and business environment to create the best possible conditions for enterprises, and intensify both regular and unexpected inspections in leadership and governance.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van affirmed that the committee’s Standing Board will seriously heed the NA Chairman’s directions, maintain unity, overcome challenges, bring into full play the province’s potential and strengths, and strive to achieve its growth targets and fulfill all assigned tasks.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Ba To Uprising (March 11, 1945 –2025) and the 50th anniversary of Quang Ngai’s Liberation (March 24, 1975 –2025), the top legislator visited the family of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thu and the family of Ba To Guerrilla Team member Pham Huong in Quang Ngai city./.
