Various activities to celebrate International Women’s Day

A wide range of activities will be held in celebration of the 144th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8, 1910 – 2024), according to the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU).

Hanoi (VNA) - A wide rangeof activities will be held in celebration of the 144th anniversary of InternationalWomen’s Day (March 8, 1910 – 2024), according to the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU).

The union will launchan 'ao dai' (traditional long dress) week 2024, and organise an art performanceprogramme on February 29 evening, aiming to promoting the value of the dress inlife, culture, and society, thus evoking love, pride, and responsibility forpreserving and promoting the heritage value of the costume and Vietnameseculture to international friends.

The programme will feature collections of ao dai from over 50 designersnationwide, representing nearly 8,500 students who participated in a programmeto design and tailor ao dai organised by the VWU in collaboration with designer DoTrinh Hoai Nam - representative of SVF Academy, in 2023.

An exhibition themed "Women with Dien Bien" will be alsoorganised in Dien Bien Phu city of the northern province of Dien Bien from March4, showing gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, and Vietnamesewomen who contributed to the heroic victory in Dien Bien.

On the occasion, the VWU planned to present nearly500 gift packages and cash to martyrs' mothers, policy families, anddisadvantaged women in five communes with a total value of 360 million VND(over 14,600 USD); and 50 gift packages worth 50 million VND to wivesof Dien Bien martyrs and former Dien Bien soldiers.  It will give gifts to soldiers and adoptedchildren at Tay Trang international border gate, Pa Thom border station, and thesocial protection centre of Dien Bien province.

A workshop and a festival of creative models/activitiespromoting good cultural practices of ethnic minorities to promote genderequality will take place on March 5 - 6, 2024 in Dien Bien Phu city.
Many other exhibitions will be held at the Vietnam Women's Museum in Hanoi and Vinh city in the central province of NgheAn./.

SEA Games 33: Shooting, Wushu secure silvers

SEA Games 33: Vietnam excels with record-breaking performances

The trio of Nguyen Thuy Trang, Trinh Thu Vinh and Trieu Thi Hoa Hong delivered an impressive performance in the women’s 10m air pistol team event on December 14. Competing with consistency and precision, the Vietnamese shooters amassed a total of 1,711 points to win the gold medal and shatter the SEA Games record.

‘Red Rain’ closes Vietnamese Film Week in Paris

Vietnam Pho Day launched in Europe amid broader culinary push

Prior to the launch, the Vietnamese Embassy encouraged businesses and restaurants throughout Germany to join in the event. By December 12, six partners had signed up via the We Love Pho organisation's website (welovepho.org), committing to promotional posts, website and social media shares, features in Vietnamese language media, and special discounts for pho customers during the event.
