Hanoi (VNA) – As Vietnam prepares to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2), a series of grand art programmess are taking centre stage across the nation, connecting millions of Vietnamese hearts.

A special progamme called “Proud to be Vietnamese" will be jointly held by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Hanoi People's Committee, Vietnam Television, and Netmedia Corporation. It is set to take place at 8:10 pm on August 17 at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi and be broadcast live on VTV1 and relayed on multiple local channels and digital platforms.

The organising board said the national-level programme aims to honour the Vietnamese people’s long and heroic journey in building and defending the country, evoke deep gratitude toward the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and generations of compatriots and soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national independence and reunification. Besides, it is expected to amplify the spirit of solidarity among Vietnamese people both at home and abroad as well as nurture pride, resilience, and aspiration to contribute to building a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

The stage design draws inspiration from the legendary tale of Prince Lang Lieu—the 7th Hung King, symbolising the harmony of heaven and earth. Cutting-edge sound, lighting, and visual technology will blend with intricate real-life performances that fuse traditional and contemporary music, creating a breathtaking spectacle.

On August 15, the capital city will host another art show named “Hanoi – from the historic autumn of 1945” at the iconic August Revolution Square. Directed by the Hanoi Party Committee, People's Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front, the show will be broadcast live on VTV1 and Hanoi’s TV channel.

The meticulously staged event will record transformative journey of Hanoi over the past eight decades, from the successful August Revolution, the eternal echoes of the Declaration of Independence, through the fierce days of bombs and fire during the Dien Bien Phu in the air battle, to the building of a prosperous, beautiful, civilised capital stepping into a new era.

A highlight of the event will be 3D mapping projections and a standout fireworks display, taking the audience on a journey through Vietnam’s luminous historical moments, vibrant cultural heritage, and a forward-looking technological future.

On August 31, the “Hanoi – eternal aspiration of Vietnam” programme will be staged at the Vietnam National Exposition Centre and broadcast live on Hanoi’s TV channel and various digital platforms, aiming to instill revolutionary spirit and patriotic pride. It will present a fusion of contemporary music, dance, dramatic scenes, archival video, and 3D mapping.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism asked cities and provinces across the nation to organise artistic and cultural events in celebrations of the August Revolution and National Day./.
