HCM City tackles fishing violations at roots

As of December 9, all of the 4,475 fishing vessels in HCM City had registered and updated in the VNFishbase database, of them 4,268 licensed. The remainder, classified as ineligible, are strictly monitored and kept moored locally, with no permission to put to sea.

HCM City mobilises nearly 9.3 million USD for disaster relief

To date, the city has allocated 190.6 billion VND and over 136.2 billion VND in goods for relief efforts. This includes 430 million VND for disaster-hit households within the city; 3.17 billion VND transferred to provinces as requested by donors; and 187 billion VND together with more than 136.2 billion VND in goods for localities suffering severe losses.

HCM City provides 800,000 USD to help Hue recover from floods

Vice Chairman of the Hue municipal People's Committee Nguyen Chi Tai thanked Ho Chi Minh City for its timely support and pledged to allocate the funds efficiently and transparently to families most affected by the disaster. He expressed his hope that the strong bond between the two cities would continue to grow, spreading the values of solidarity and mutual support for sustainable development.

Ho Chi Minh City steps up crackdown on IUU fishing violations

During an inspection on November 5 in Ho Chi Minh City's coastal communes of Thanh An, Can Gio and An Thoi Dong, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Bui Minh Thanh said although positive progress has been made, offshore fishing activities remain complex, especially as the city enters the crucial stage in the country's efforts to remove the IUU yellow card.

HCM City strengthens fishing vessel control

As of October 23, Ho Chi Minh City had recorded 4,857 fishing vessels, a reduction of 53 from the previous week due to the deregistration of obsolete or missing vessels. Currently, 887 vessels (20.35% of the total) do not meet conditions for fishing offshore.

HCM City to pilot digital government management platform from mid-October to year-end

The platform features six core functions, namely monitoring and reminding tasks assigned by the Government Office; tracking and prompting tasks from the municipal People’s Committee; enabling instant task assignment; sending personal task reminders; maintaining a contact directory; and supporting individual and group communications for task coordination.

Since its founding in 1992, Hoa Hong Shelter has nurtured and educated disadvantaged girls aged 8-18. Over 30 years, it has supported more than 1,000 children, with about 80% successfully reintegrated into families and 50% receiving vocational training and job placement.
