NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh suggested the Vietnam – Brazil and Brazil – Vietnam parliamentary friendship groups continue to step up cooperation, effectively translating the outcomes of their talks into reality, and serving as an important bridge to deepen parliamentary relations in particular and the two countries' ties in general.

In the new term, the association plans to enhance collaboration with youth and women’s organisations, universities, research institutes, non-governmental organisations, enterprises, and business associations in Brazil.

The visit brought concrete benefits not just in diplomatic and economic terms, but also in reinforcing mutual understanding, expanding Vietnam’s global footprint, and building new bridges between continents - firmly positioning Vietnam as a proactive contributor to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and beyond.

With a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and multilateralisation, Vietnam has viewed Brazil as an ideal partner that shares a common vision of a just world based on international law.

The trip from July 4 to 8, made at the invitation of Brazilian President Lula da Silva, featured nearly 40 activities, including those within the BRICS summit, meetings with leaders of other counties and international organisations, and bilateral activities with the Brazilian side.

As part of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Brazil for the Expanded BRICS Summit and bilateral engagements, his spouse, Madam Le Thi Bich Tran, paid a visit to the Dona Meca Social Welfare Centre in Rio de Janeiro.

PM Pham Minh Chinh ’s July 4–8 trip to Brazil aimed to further implement Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and diversification and multilateralisation of external relations. It conveyed Vietnam’s image as a trusted partner in the international community, adding new dimensions to strategic partnerships and opening a new chapter of cooperation that meets the needs and interests of both countries, especially in a time of complex global developments.

At these meetings, the PM highlighted Vietnam’s current landscape, key development priorities, and its favourable investment and business environment. He also underscored the strong friendship between Vietnam and Brazil, particularly following the upgrade of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership in November 2024.

PM Pham Minh Chinh has called for stronger multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, as well as the WTO, while meeting with their leaders in Rio de Janeiro.

PM Pham Minh Chinh thanked WHO for its effective support, which has contributed significantly to Vietnam’s success in containing the COVID-19 pandemic and achieving swift recovery.

PM Chinh called on the AIIB to continue supporting Vietnam in mobilising resources for major projects such as Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong standard-gauge railway line. He also urged the bank to provide concessional loans focused on transformative projects that include technology transfer and human resource training.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had working sessions with leaders of major Brazilian corporations on the morning of July 6 (local time) in Rio de Janeiro, with a view to expanding cooperation in aviation, biofuel production, agriculture, and food processing and distribution.

The piece praised the dynamic momentum of the Vietnam – Brazil relationship, describing it as a vibrant symbol of South–South cooperation in an increasingly multipolar and competitive world.

According to the Brazilian government-run Planalto news site, during their talks on July 5 (local time), PM Chinh and President Lula da Silva celebrated the excellent status of the bilateral relations as well as the progress made since the latter’s state visit to Hanoi last April.

With a vibrant economy, a population nearing 100 million, and deep integration into global supply chains, Vietnam brings to Brazil the story of a nation that has evolved from isolation to becoming a trusted and active participant in shaping multilateral frameworks.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed deep appreciation for the affection the Brazilian people and nation have extended to President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam. The leader noted his belief that, building on the strong ties between Vietnam and Brazil, the present and future generations of both countries will continue to carry forward the values and legacy left by President Ho Chi Minh and previous generations.

PM Pham Minh Chinh will have bilateral meetings with leaders of the participating countries and organisations, thereby affirming Vietnam's role, wish, and responsible contributions to this multilateral mechanism while further deepening Vietnam’s cooperation with BRICS members and international organisations.

This marks Vietnam’s first participation in a BRICS summit as a partner country, affirming its role, aspirations, and responsible contributions to this multilateral mechanism, and helping to further deepen cooperation between Vietnam and BRICS member states.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is also expected to reaffirm Vietnam's strong commitment to peace, stability, cooperation, and development on this occasion; as well as its desire to deepen ties with Brazil and diversify economic, trade, and investment partnerships with high-potential regions.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Brazil has long been Vietnam’s leading trade partner in Latin America. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1989, two-way trade has shown impressive growth.
