A golden tourism route connecting six destinations of Vietnam and China was launched in Hanoi on March 28, expected to help the two countries enhance cross-border tourism links.

Hanoi (VNA) – A golden tourism route connecting sixdestinations of Vietnam and China was launched in Hanoi on March 28, expected to helpthe two countries enhance cross-border tourism links.

The route,called “Two countries – Six destinations”, covers Kunming city and Honghe countyof China’s Yunnan province, along with Lao Cai province, Hanoi, Hai Phong city,and Quang Ninh province of Vietnam.

Introducing Honghe, Zhao Ruijun, Secretary of the CommunistParty of China Committee of the county, said the launch of the route is part of the tourism and cultural cooperation between China and Vietnam,and that it will provide a good stepping stone for the two countries to bolstercross-border tourism ties on a larger scale.

Hanoi,Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, and Hai Phong view China as the leading source ofinternational tourists. Meanwhile, Chinese travellers also prefer Vietnamesedestinations, including the four localities in the new route and others with richcultural identities. The Southeast Asian nation is also an ideal destinationfor the Chinese who love MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences andexhibitions), culinary, and golf tourism, he noted.

Director of the Hanoi Tourism Department DangHuong Giang described the launch of the route as an encouraging sign for both countries’ tourism sectors and localities,calling on travel firms of Vietnam and China to actively share information andmake the best preparations in terms of infrastructure, products, and manpowerso as to serve tourists early.

Tourism officials of the four Vietnamese localities agreed tocoordinate with Yunnan province to hold tourism promotion activities. They alsopledged to assist the two sides’ businesses to effectively tap into the route as well as others./.

Prior to the launch, the Vietnamese Embassy encouraged businesses and restaurants throughout Germany to join in the event. By December 12, six partners had signed up via the We Love Pho organisation's website (welovepho.org), committing to promotional posts, website and social media shares, features in Vietnamese language media, and special discounts for pho customers during the event.
