Hanoi (VNA) - The First Congress of the Government Party Organisation for the 2025–2030 tenure affirms the determination to implement socio-economic, defence, security, and foreign affairs tasks to build a dynamic, self-reliant, and innovative government that fosters sustainable national development.
During the 2025–2030 term, the Government Party Committee targets building an action-oriented, self-reliant, and development-facilitating Government, determined to achieve national development goals in the new era, heard a press conference on October 9.
A key goal is to maintain a peaceful environment, ensure rapid, sustainable economic growth, and by 2030, make Vietnam a country with a modern industrial base and upper-middle income, ranked among the world’s top 30 economies by GDP, and third in ASEAN.
During the 2020–2025 term, the Government Party Committee closely followed the Party’s guidelines, under the direct leadership of Party General Secretaries Nguyen Phu Trong and To Lam. They implemented three strategic breakthroughs, six key tasks, and 12 major solution groups, achieving significant results.
It has led efforts to realise the 2021–2025 socio-economic development goals, expected to meet or exceed 22 out of 26 key indicators, notably completing all social development targets.
Over the past two years (2024–2025), the Committee has carried out historic decisions of the Party and State, particularly in restructuring and streamlining the organisational apparatus. It has eliminated overlaps in the legal system, accelerated administrative reform, decentralisation, and devolution of power, and tackled long-standing project bottlenecks.
Nationwide, efforts have been made to accelerate the development of expressways, high-speed railways, and promote the early construction of nuclear power plants. Vietnam has also focused on developing the private sector, science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, eradicating substandard housing, and strengthening public and business confidence.
In parallel, Party building in political, ideological, and ethical aspects has been vigorously promoted with several innovations. The protection of the Party’s ideological foundation has been reinforced, while inspection and supervision work has seen positive changes, with efforts toward anti-corruption, thrift practice, and anti-negativity.
The restructuring and consolidation of Party organisations across units have been implemented promptly and effectively in line with organisational reform policies.
The congress will see the presence of 453 delegates, who represent over 209,000 Party members from 2,211 grassroots Party organisations.
Around 120 guest delegates are invited to the congress. Party General Secretary Lam is expected to attend and deliver a speech at the event.
The congress will reaffirm Vietnam’s overall goal of maintaining peace and stability, ensuring dynamic, rapid and sustainable economic growth, striving to join the top 30 economies globally by GDP and become third in ASEAN by 2030, with high growth during 2026–2030 and balanced macroeconomic fundamentals.
It will also aim to develop a modern, competitive, and effective governance system, comprehensive human resources, and advanced science, technology, and innovation capabilities comparable to leading upper-middle-income nations.
A key highlight will be building a pure and strong Government Party Organisation, determined to prevent and repel ideological, ethical, and lifestyle degradation and manifestations of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” within the ranks, while enhancing the leadership capacity and combativeness of Party committees, organisations, cadres, and members./.
